Wrestling Hall of Fame Announced
Four individuals who will be inducted into the Hall-of-Fame at the upcoming National Wrestling Tournament in Rochester, MN.
They are:
James Johnson - wrestler - wrestled for Rochester Community and Technical College 1965-67 and was a two-time All-American placing first in 1966 and 4th in 1967 at 152 pounds.
Stephen Hughes - wrestler - wrestled for Lincoln College and was a two-time finalist for the Lynx. Stephan placed second in 1989 and won the championship in 1990 at 190 pounds. Stephen went on to compete for Illinois state University where he was a national qualifier. The next year he transfered to Lindenwood University where he was crowned the NAIA National Champion.
Robert Gray - wrestler - wrestled for Lincoln College and was their first All-American and National Champion. Robert was the champion at 134 pounds in 1981 and placed 6th at the same weight in 1982 after being injuried in the semi-finals and defaulting his remaining matches to place 6th.
David Mirikitani - wrestler - wrestled for his father, Ron, at St Louis - Meramec from 1990-92. David was a two-time All-American placing 7th as a freshman and second as a sophomore at 134 pounds. In 1992 David was the NATYCAA Student Athlete of the Year and the NJCAA Scholar Athlete of the Year (All Sports).
