Former Cincinnati State standout Omar Cummings leads the Colorado Rapids to victory in MLS playoffs
DENVER, CO -Omar Cummings, a former member of the Cincinnati State men's soccer team in 2003 and 2004, scored the game winning goal for the Colorado Rapids in the opening round of the MLS playoffs against the Columbus Crew. Cummings scored the games only goal in the 45th minute of the game with a hard strike off a beautiful setup pass from his Colorado teammate Kosuke Kimora. Following the goal, Cummings celebrated by what is being called "tebowing"- a touchdown celebration often done by Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.
The goal marked the first playoff goal in Omar's young career. With the win, Colorado will move on to face Kansas City in the semifinals.
While at Cincinnati State, Cummings scored 39 goals and recorded 29 assists in 28 games played. For his efforts, he was named an All-American in 2003 and 2004. This past winter, Cummings was also inducted into the Cincinnati State Athletic Hall of Fame.
