NJCAA Receives $150,000 Grant from Lumina Foundation for Student Success Data Project

Charlotte, NC – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has received a $150,000 grant from Lumina Foundation.

The student success data project will enable the NJCAA to expand the visibility and success of two-year colleges and bring further awareness to the importance of educational opportunities for all students.

"We are grateful to Lumina for their support of the NJCAA on this important undertaking," said Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA president and CEO. "Their financial backing will allow us to better tell the story of the NJCAA and illuminate the educational journeys of our student-athletes."

The grant will help the NJCAA build infrastructure and processes to track two-year college student-athlete retention, transfer, and completion outcomes at two-year and four-year institutions of higher learning.

The NJCAA will leverage this project to continue its advocacy for removing barriers for student-athletes disadvantaged by current transfer and eligibility bylaws at the NCAA Division I (D1) level. This initiative, "Same Game, Same Rules", was started in March in conjunction with 16 national coaches' associations.

Work on the project is already underway.
