NJCAA names Kelsi Weeks as Director of Sport Operations and Championships
The former NJCAA student athlete has worked as a leader in collegiate athletics administration for more than a decade
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The National Junior College Athletic Association has hired Kelsi Weeks as the Association's new Director of Sport Operations and Championships. Weeks brings more than a decade of NJCAA leadership and championship operations experience to the national office, along with a unique perspective as a former NJCAA student-athlete and athletic administrator.
Weeks most recently served as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Indian Hills Community College, where she oversaw a 19-sport athletic department and helped guide the Warriors to conference, regional, district and national championship success. Prior to Indian Hills, Weeks held several leadership roles at Tyler Junior College, including Interim Director of Athletics, Associate Director of Athletics and Assistant Director of Athletics.
Throughout her career, Weeks played a key role in the planning and execution of multiple NJCAA national championship events, including serving as tournament director for NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer and Women's Tennis National Championships, hosted at Tyler Junior College. Her experience includes championship operations, student-athlete services, compliance and eligibility oversight, budgeting, marketing, media coordination, facility management and strategic planning.
"Kelsi's experience in leading successful NJCAA athletic departments and involvement in not only attending many of our championships during her career but also working as part of host site teams and assisting the national office in operations of several championships, were key to our decision to add Kelsi into this very important role," Dr. Brett Monaghan, Vice President of Championships, Membership and Sports Governance, said. "Couple this all with her involvement as a former NJCAA student-athlete who experienced our championships, which provides a unique lens for our office that will help us continue to improve the championship experience for our student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff members, administrators and fans."
As a former student-athlete at Tyler Junior College, Weeks competed for the Apaches women's soccer program before launching a career in athletics administration. She earned an Associate's degree from Tyler Junior College, a Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Tyler, and a Master's degree in Athletic Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
"I am thrilled to join the NJCAA as the Director of Sports Operations and Championships," Weeks said. "The NJCAA has shaped so much of my personal and professional journey, from my experience as an NJCAA student-athlete to serving within championship-level athletic programs at the administrative level. I look forward to giving back to the organization that has provided me with countless opportunities, while continuing to support member institutions, enhance the student-athlete experience and advance the NJCAA's tradition of excellence nationwide."
Weeks has also remained actively involved in national and regional leadership initiatives throughout her career, including serving on the ICCAC Appeals Committee, the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Committee, and as a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators.
