Reiver's Head Coach Scott Strohmeier Named Coach of the Year in DI Football
Charlotte, NC - Iowa Western's Head Coach Scott Strohmeier has been named the 2025 NJCAA Division I Football Coach of the Year after leading the Reivers to their fourth national title.
Scott Strohmeier enters the 2025 campaign as the only Head Coach in the Reivers' 17 seasons, leading his team to claim the 2025 NJCAA Division I Football National Championship at West Texas A&M in Canyon, TX. The No. 2 Reivers claimed a 28-10 victory over top-ranked Hutchinson on December 17, 2025. On their way to the National Championship, the Reivers defeated No.3 ranked Tyler Junior College in the NJCAA Division I Football Playoff semifinal contest to earn a spot in the title game.
Strohmeier led Iowa Western to an 11-1 overall record, with his only loss of the season being to Hutchinson. The Reivers finished the season in the top-5 in the nation in points per game (39.9), Total offense (5402 yds), Passing yards (2934 yards), and sacks (74). The Reivers named five players to the 2025 NJCAA DI Football 1st Team All-America team including Malachi Marshall, Blake Hawkins, Andy Burburija, Jerome Baker, and Dax Noles.
Since the beginning of the football program in 2009, the Reivers have appeared in six NJCAA National Championship games. The Reivers have accounted for the most wins by any NJCAA football program since 2010, winning the NJCAA National Championship
in 2012, 2022, 2023 and now 2025.
Head Coach Scott Strohmeier has amassed a record of 165-31, sending 339 players to NCAA D1 programs, and leading the team to a final rank of #1 in the NJCAA Top 20, the 12th time in 16 seasons that the team finished inside the Top 5 of the rankings, and the 13th time in 16 seasons that the squad was ranked in the Top 10 of the final poll.
