COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Top 10 poll has been released and the top three remain the same with Gulf Coast CC (Fla.) taking the top spot, Jefferson College (Mo.) at #2, and Pensacola Junior College (Fla.) at #3.
Gulf Coast CC improves to 20-0 after an 80-54 win over Chipola College last week. They are led in scoring by Andrea Smith who averages almost 17 points per game. This week the Commodores will be put to the test in a battle against #3 Pensacola Junior College. Last time these two played on Jan 16, Gulf Coast was the victor with a score of 75-63.
Jefferson College is in at #2 again this week after defeating Moberly Area CC and Mineral Area College last week. The Vikings have an 18-1 record which they will only look to improve upon this week as they play Three Rivers CC and then play host to Crowder College who they beat previously 96-61.
Pensacola Junior College is at the #3 spot with a 20-3 record after last week. This week Pensacola will have one thing on their mind – Gulf Coast CC. The two Region 8 powerhouses will meet up on Wednesday Feb. 3, in a showdown that shouldn’t disappoint. Pensacola will be led on offense by Deana Allen who is averaging almost 21 points per game this season.
