The NJCAA Men's Golf Coaches Association has announced its 2019 Hall of Fame class. Kirkwood head coach Darin Pint enters as a coach inductee while the chair of NJCAA Division II men's golf, Dale Vos, receives recognition as a contributor in this year's group.
Pint, who just completed his 23rd season at the helm of the Kirkwood men's golf program, has had a great deal of success in Cedar Rapids. This week, Pint will coach in his 23rd consecutive NJCAA Championship: 16 times as a qualified team and the other seven with qualified individuals. Highlighted by team runner-up finishes in 2006 and 2016 along with an individual national champion in 2006 (TJ Redding), Pint has also coached 17 All-Americans.
"It is an unbelievable honor but a lot of credit goes out to our administration at Kirkwood and the numerous players, families, and coaches that I've been fortunate enough to be part of their lives," said Pint. "To be inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame is a tremendous honor and one that I share with many people that helped me get here. I'd [also] like to most importantly thank my wife and kids for supporting me in this crazy world of coaching."
Dale Vos, the other inductee, has served as the sport chair for NJCAA Division II Men's Golf for 20 years. One of his first acts as chair was to move the national tournament to a course that met the standards of a championship event. After nearly two decades in charge, Vos has hosted the annual meetings at both the national tournament as well as the NJCAA national meetings every April.
"My NJCAA golf journey began 19 years ago. As the chair of the NJCAA II Golf Committee, all I ever hoped for was to make the tournament a great experience for the players and coaches," said Vos. "In return, I have made life long friends. The players, coaches, host courses, and host communities have been awesome. The fact that the coaches association thinks I have done enough to join their Hall of Fame is a blessing and honor that I really cannot put into words."
Vos also serves on the newly-formed NJCAA Board of Regents, representing the 33-school Region XII in national meetings and proceedings. In addition to his duties with men's golf and the NJCAA, Vos also is the head coach of the St. County men's basketball team.
Both recipients will be honored this week at the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship at Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, IN.
