Coffeyville named 'Biggest Fans' contest winner
 March 13, 2014

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) today announced Coffeyville Community College in Kansas as the winner of the NJCAA Biggest Fan contest, sponsored by Big Ass Fans®. By receiving the largest number of votes, Coffeyville wins an overhead Big Ass Fan of their choice, powder coated with their school colors.

The NJCAA Biggest Fan contest launched in November and asked NJCAA member institutions to show their school spirit in a video clip. Videos were uploaded to njcaatv.com, and the winner was chosen by popular vote.

Coffeyville Community College’s winning video highlighted super fan Logan DeRosier. DeRosier spent 32 days in the hospital after a serious car accident on December 14, 2013; 23 of those days were spent in an induced coma. The video shows DeRosier’s recovery and journey back to the front of the stands, leading the student section as they cheer on the Coffeyville Red Raven basketball team.

Boasting 3,000 students each academic year, Coffeyville Community College is a comprehensive two-year institution that offers 24 academic programs, 15 technical programs and 14 certificate programs.

Mott Community College, located in Flint, Mich., was the NJCAA Biggest Fan contest runner-up and will receive a Yellow Jacket® fan from Big Ass Fans. Yellow Jacket is a durable, portable and mountable fan that directs airflow where it’s needed, improving comfort both indoors and out.

In 2013, Kentucky-based Big Ass Fans was named the “Preferred Fan Sponsor of the NJCAA,” offering air movement solutions for any application and providing NJCAA member schools with improved cooling and heating efficiency. This year, the company has branched into lighting, launching its own High Bay LED light fixture to solve common lighting problems in industrial and commercial spaces. The new Big Ass Light division represents the company’s first foray outside of fans since its founding in 1999 and is accompanied by the name change to Big Ass Solutions. The company’s emphasis will remain on engineering and manufacturing efficient products that solve problems in the built environment.

Big Ass Fans and the NJCAA congratulate Coffeyville Community College on winning the Biggest Fans contest. To watch the winning NJCAA Biggest Fan contest videos, visit http://www.njcaatv.com/biggestfans/.
