Panthers Win at Jefferson

WATERTOWN, N.Y. – The #5-ranked Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer opened defense of its Mid-State Athletic Conference title with a 3-1 road win against Jefferson Community College Saturday. The Panthers are now 4-0-1 on the year.

It didn’t take long for the visitors to set the tone. James Demshick (Newburgh Free Academy/Newburgh) put the Panthers on the board in the fifth minute, scoring off an assist from Morgan Shutter (Odessa-Montour H.S./Alpine). In the 13th minute, Rob Licciardi (North Baylon H.S./North Babylon) made it 2-0 with an unassisted score, and in the 40th minute, Shutter scored with an assist from Licciardi to push the lead to 3-0. A second-half score by the home team spoiled the shutout, but TC3 held on for the comfortable win.

TC3 keeper McZiggy Richards (School for Human Rights H.S./Brooklyn) posted one save for the win.

The Panthers host Niagara County Community College Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
