Richardson resigns as Phoenix football coach
 August 30, 2013

PHOENIX – Phoenix College has announced that Jeremy Richardson has resigned as the program’s head football coach, effective immediately.  Jerome Daniels, who was the team’s interim head football coach last year, has been named to the same position for the 2013 season.  Daniels will take over the reins of the team beginning with this afternoon’s practice.  Richardson was hired by the school as the head football coach in January of this year after spending five years with the football program at Joliet Junior College in Illinois-the last four of those as the head coach.

Meanwhile, Daniels begins his fourth year with the program, and his fifth year around WSFL Football.  After breaking into the league on the staff of Mesa Community College, Daniels came to the Bears in 2010, and was put in charge of both tight ends and the offensive line.  He became solely the offensive line coach in 2011, and was named the interim head football coach last August.  When Richardson was named the head coach earlier this year, Daniels remained with the staff, becoming the team’s defensive coordinator.  Daniels will remain the main one overseeing the team’s defense as well as the head coach.

Daniels will lead his Bears into battle for their 2013 season opener this Saturday night, August 31st at Hogan Field at Hoy Stadium on the PC campus.  The Bears will host the Pima Aztecs, who come to Phoenix after dropping a 40-7 decision in their season opener last Saturday in Yuma against 11th-ranked Arizona Western College.  Kickoff Saturday night is scheduled for 7PM, and admission prices for that night are as follows:  $5 for adults; $3 for students with a valid ID; and kids 12 and under get in FREE.
