Charger Volleyball Wins Home Opener
 August 28, 2013

PLYMOUTH, IN – The Ancilla volleyball team won their second match of the season, doing so in comeback fashion. The Chargers defeated visiting Morton College 17-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-17, 15-11.

"I saw some nice things tonight,” said Ancilla coach Lana Singleton. “I am pleased with how Mieka is mixing things up on the outside and cutting back on her errors. She is making big improvements from last season. Griffith and Redinger combined for some showy offense, which was a nice momentum shift in our direction. Hannah Sneed made a couple great saves on defense for us and Mackenzie White played a solid defensive game in the libero position. Something else that stood out for me was the aggressiveness and enthusiasm that freshman middle Mariah Kinney brought last night. It was a team win, everyone contributed.”

Amber Redinger and Mieka Wagner both put up double digit kill totals. Redinger finished with 17 and added five blocks (1 solo and 4 assist), while Wagner put down 13 kills. Courtney Griffith assisted on 27 of Ancilla’s 56 kills in the match, and Mackenzie White led the Chargers in digs (32) and receive attempts (27).

Ancilla returns to action Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. as they face Grace College’s JV at the LifePlex of Plymouth.

Ancilla College, a part of The Center at Donaldson, enrolls just under 500 students in 18 Associate’s Degree programs. Founded by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in 1937, Ancilla is located 2 miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth, Indiana.
