Lady Bobcats open season with 2-0 win over Hinds

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College women’s soccer team opened the 2013 season on a successful note.

The Lady Bobcats blanked the Hinds Community College Lady Eagles 2-0 here Tuesday evening before a nice crowd at Bobcat Soccer Field.

Danielle Fortin of Lafayette, Ind., got the Lady Bobcats on the board with a goal at the 30:39 mark. Late in the first half, Lauren Arnold of Presbyterian Christian School in Hattiesburg followed that up with a goal at the 42:04 mark.

The Lady Bobcats took 11 shots, including nine shots on goal, in the game. Hinds took 10 shots, including six shots on goal. JCJC had four corner kicks, compared to Hinds’ two. Hinds committed five fouls, while Jones committed four.

Briahna Dickerson of Gautier was in goal for the Lady Bobcats and had five saves.

The Lady Bobcats, 1-0, will host Itawamba Community College at 5 p.m. on Friday. The men’s game will follow at 7 p.m.

Hinds, 0-1, will meet St. Charles Community College (Mo.) at 2 p.m. on Friday at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.
