HCC Sports Information

ROSWELL, N.M. – Sophomore Dragana Micic had a combined 23 kills to lead the No. 11 Hutchinson Community College volleyball team to a pair of victories over Frank Phillips College and Pima to close out the 2013 New Mexico Military Classic.

After an up-and-down first two sets against Frank Phillips, the Lady Dragons unloaded on the Plainsmen in a four-set victory, winning 25-13, 20-25, 25-7, 25-14. HCC closed out the 3-1 weekend with a sweep of Pima 25-17, 25-22, 25-23.

Against Frank Phillips, Sophomore Teresa Wade rebounded from a rough Friday to hit .272 on 11 kills and one error to lead HCC. Wade also had eight digs.

Micic had nine kills and a team-high four service aces. Freshman Nicole Kinser, who battled a sore ankle, hit .700 on eight kills.

Sophomore libero Samantha Lackey had 19 digs.

Micic had 14 kills to lead the Lady Dragons against Pima. Wade had six kills and sophomore Megan Heier had four.

Lackey finished with 13 digs and had 75 for the weekend. That moved her into the Top 10 in career digs with 699.

Wade had seven digs and Alex Keller added six.

The Lady Dragons (3-1) will play host to Barton to open the home and Jayhawk West portion of their schedule at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.
