VU Trailblazer Volleyball improves to 4-0
 August 25, 2013

Trailblazers top Kellogg, Edison for pair of straight-set wins

The Vincennes University Volleyball Team stayed unbeaten at 4-0 with two more straight-set victories Saturday on the final day of VU’s Blazer Classic at the VU P.E. Complex.

The Trailblazers defeated Kellogg, 25-11, 25-8, 25-17 early Saturday afternoon and returned to the court later to dispatch Edison by scores of 25-4, 25-18, 25-14. The archived streaming video of the victories and VU’s two wins on Friday can be found at http://www.ihigh.com/vincennes/index.html.

VU (4-0) took the first two sets from Kellogg by overcoming a slow start in Game 1 to go on a 17-3 run for the win after battling back early to tie it up at 8-8. The Trailblazers lead throughout in Game 2. The third was much tougher but VU closed out Kellogg.

In the match against Edison, VU jumped out to a 10-1 lead on the Chargers early on and, with Casie Divine serving nearly all the way, the Trailblazers blew it out to 20-1 before Edison could get on track. But it was too little, too late for the Chargers. In the second set, the Trailblazers opened up a 12-6 advantage after it was tight early on for the victory.

The Trailblazers will now head to Sinclair on Thursday for a 6 p.m. (Vincennes time) match. After taking on the Tartan Pride in Dayton, OH, VU will head to the Owens Express Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Toledo, OH.
