Harford Baseball's Eller Wins 200th Career Game
 April 18, 2013

BEL AIR, Md. – Harford baseball head coach Tom Eller collected his 200th career win on April 13, with a 4-2 win over conference foe Chesapeake. Eller, who is the school’s all-time winningest coach, collected his 200th win in half the time it took him to collect his 100th.

The two-time MD JUCO Coach of the Year amassed the milestone victory in his 339th game as a head coach, totaling a 200-139 career record in seven seasons. Eller has increased his win total every year since becoming a first-time head coach in the 2007 season.

Eller won his first game in his first try, topping Sussex, 4-2, on March 9, 2007. Five seasons later, he collected his 100th victory on March 19, 2011 in a 13-2 win over Roxbury as he amassed a 100-106 career record to that point.

Just two years later, Eller has guided his Fighting Owl team to victory 200 times, earning a remarkable 100-31 mark since collecting his century victory.

The Harford program has soared to new heights under Eller’s guidance, claiming the program’s first ever MD JUCO Conference and NJCAA Region XX Championships last year, capping off a 45-15 campaign, the most victories in school history.

Eller won MD JUCO Coach of the Year in each of the past two years, claiming the award last season after winning the conference title with a 24-4 mark. In 2011, Eller won the Coaches’ Association Coach of the Year after finishing second in the conference standings and winning 44 contests.

The Fighting Owls have earned four NJCAA All-American honors, 27 NJCAA All-Region XX accolades and 15 MD JUCO All-Conference awards during Eller’s tenure. He has sent over 40 players to four-year schools during his time at the helm, including Maryland, VCU, UNC-Greensboro, Navy and Marshall to the NCAA Division I ranks, and NCAA Division II powerhouse programs West Chester and Wilmington.

This year’s team is currently receiving votes in the national poll with a 28-9 record. Harford boasts the nation’s leading hitter, freshman Shane Garrett, while ranking fifth in the nation in average and third in runs as a team.
