EC Golfers Finish Sixth in State Tourney
 April 16, 2013

East Central Community College’s golf team finished sixth in the 2013 MACJC State Championship held April 14-15 at Dixie Golf Club in Laurel.

The Warrior linksters recorded rounds of 315 and 304 for a 619 total in the 36-hole competition, won by Copiah-Lincoln which posted a 588 (296-292).

East Mississippi finished second at 592 (294-298), followed by Northwest MS, 594 (299-295); MS Gulf Coast, 599 (298-301); Hinds, 616 (314-302); EC; host Jones County, 624 (315-309); Itawamba, 631 (315-316); Northeast MS, 635 (321-314); and Holmes, 655 (329-326).

Aaron Tucker led EC with rounds of 80 and 72 for a 152 total and finished tied for 14th. Tucker is a product of Leake Central High School.

Other Warrior scorers were Taylor York of Choctaw Central, 155 (81-74); Sawyer Williams of Parkers Chapel in Eldorado, Ark., 156 (76-80); Lee McDill of Newton County High School, 158 (79-79); and Shelby Patterson of Forest, 159 (80-79).

Chris Clark serves as EC golf coach.

Co-Lin, East MS, Northwest, Gulf Coast and host East Central will play in the NJCAA Region 23 Golf Championship scheduled April 22-23 at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club.

The winner advances to NJCAA National Championship set May 21-24 at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, Ala.
