TC3 Softball Earns First Doubleheader Sweep of Season

UTICA, N.Y. – The Tompkins Cortland Community College softball team picked up its first doubleheader sweep of the season Monday, taking two games from Mohawk Valley Community College. The Panthers won by scores of 7-4 and 6-2 to improve to 4-2 in Region III play and 5-12 overall. Mohawk Valley drops to 7-8 in Region III and 7-11 overall.

Seneca Baldwin (Oneonta H.S./Oneonta) was the winner in game one, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out eight. Taylor Policay (Lansing H.S./Lansing) led the attack with two doubles and two runs driving in. Sara Ford (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca), Macey Morse (Fabius-Pompey H.S./Fabius), and Angela Everhart (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) each had a pair of hits in the opener.

Game two saw Ford in the circle, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out four. Everhart had two more hits while driving in two in the nightcap. Chelsea Rosa (Bainbridge-Guilford H.S./Bainbridge), Molly Hitchcock (Elmira Free Academy/Elmira), Katie Huston (Chenango Valley H.S./Binghamton), and Jena Baiguini (New York Mills H.S./New York Mills) powered the offense, each with two hits.

TC3 plays at Broome Community College Thursday.
