VU drops game, 83-76, at Wabash Valley
 February 17, 2013

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. - The Vincennes University Men's Basketball Team dropped an 83-76 decision at Wabash Valley Saturday night as the host Warriors went on a 12-0 tear in the second half to pull away after leading 39-36 at halftime.

Sophomore Darius Carter scored 16 of his team-high 18 in the second half for VU (24-2). Sophomore Monte Burney hit four treys on his way to 16 points and freshman Devin Foster had a pair of 3-pointers as he scored 14.

Wabash Valley sophomore Chris Griffin scored a game-high 20, while freshman Tyrone Sherman finished with 18 for the Warriors (13-11).

The Warriors made more free throws that the Trailblazers shot as Wabash Valley enjoyed a 29-17 advantage at the stripe. Overall, the Warriors were 29-for-37 and VU went 17-for-25 at the line. The Trailblazers were whistled for 28 personal fouls while Wabash Valley was assessed 20.

Some of the discrepancy at the free throw line was negated by VU's nine 3-pointers. However, Wabash Valley nailed eight of their own from beyond the arc.

VU will return to action Monday when the Trailblazers host Shawnee at 7 p.m. at the VU P.E. Complex. The game follows the VU Women's Basketball Team hosting Shawnee at 5 p.m.
