Hinds CC women's track and field opens season in stellar fashion
January 31, 2013RAYMOND – The Hinds Community College women's track and field team opened the 2013 season on Monday in the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., and the Lady Eagles came out with a bang, as seven team members qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Nationals. Hinds finished in fourth place overall out of the 14 teams competing.
Kenyattia Hackworth (Mobile, Ala.) had a day to remember, as she qualified for Indoor Nationals in the long jump (first place, 18 feet, 10 ½ inches), 60-meter dash (first place, 7.76 seconds), 200-meter dash (second place, 25.03 seconds), and 4x400-meter relay (third place, 3:56.95).
Pamala Byrd (Jackson) and Kieyiera Shipp (Olive Branch) both qualified for Indoor Nationals in the 60-meter dash, as Byrd came in second place with a time of 7.791 seconds and Shipp finished just behind in fourth place with a time of 7.798 seconds. |
