No. 2-ranked VU Men's Basketball reaches 20-0 with 70-48 win over Southeastern Illinois
 January 27, 2013

The NJCAA No. 2 Vincennes Trailblazers launched a 19-0 blitz to close out the first half Saturday night and then built on the lead en route to a 70-48 victory over Southeastern Illinois at the VU P.E. Complex. VU maintained its perfect overall record at 20-0 and continued to lay the groundwork for a high seed in the NJCAA Region 24/District 16 Tournament in March.

Sophomore Deshawn Delaney had a game-high 22 points. Sophomore Darius Carter and freshman Loomis Gerring both scored 14 and sophomore Monte Burney finished with 10.

In the lone second half bit of concern for the Trailblazers, the Falcons turned it up defensively and hit some shots to pull within 11 at 42-31, but Gerring hit a trey to answer. With that threat extinguished, the clock passed the 6:00 mark and VU was up 57-33.

VU will be idle now until Wednesday when another men's/women's double-header has the Trailblazers hosting Lewis & Clark at 7 p.m., after the VU women face off with Mineral Area at 5 p.m. at the P.E. Complex. The men’s game will be streamed live at  www.wvut.org. It will be broadcast via tape delay at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, on WVUT-TV 22.1 and then again at 5 p.m. Feb. 5 on WVUT-TV 22.2.

As always, you can also catch Dave Hunter's radio play-by-play on Blazer 91.1 WVUB. His pregame show begins 30 minutes prior to tip-off.
