Lackawanna Soccer Team to be Recognized at National Convention
 January 7, 2013

Scranton, PA – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has notified Dan Berg, the Head Coach of the Lackawanna College women’s soccer team, that his team will be recognized at their 2013 Annual Convention being held at Indianapolis, Indiana, as a recipient of the 2012 NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Gold Award. This award is presented to those soccer programs that have completed their playing season without receiving either a yellow or red card. The Falcons were one of only thirteen collegiate teams, and the only NJCAA School, who will be honored with the Ethics/Sportsmanship Gold Award.

This is the second time this season that the Lackawanna soccer program has been honored by the NSCAA. In December, sophomore midfielder Kaylin Umstead was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America 2012 All-North Regional Team.

The other Gold Award Winners were Edinboro University, Bowdoin College, Cairn University, Delaware Valley College, Grove City College, Houghton College, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, SUNY – Geneseo, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Lydon State College, Wesley College and Westminister College

Of the five NJCAA schools to be honored with either a Gold, Silver or Bronze  NSCAA Sportmanship/Ethics Award, two are representatives of Region XIX. In addition to Lackawanna’s Gold, Camden County College will receive a Silver Award by NSCAA. The Silver Award is presented to schools with no red cards and five or less yellow cards.
