SAINTS STRUGGLE FROM THE FREE THROW LINE IN 68-57 LOSS TO SPARTANBURG
 December 15, 2012

Aiken, SC - The Santa Fe Saints were a season worst 12-for-34 from the free throw line on Friday evening at the Aiken Tech Classic in route to a 68-57 loss to NJCAA #8 Spartanburg Methodist College (13-0).  SF trailed by just two at halftime against undefeated SMC, but their struggles from the free throw line kept them from ever gaining the lead.

"We did a lot of good things tonight, but free throw shooting was not one of them," said SF Coach Chris Mowry.  "We had a lot of opportunities during the course of the game and had we made some free throws we probably have the lead down the stretch with a very good chance to win."

Santa Fe (6-7) stayed with Spartanburg the entire contest but were forced to foul down six with one minute to play.  The Pioneers converted their free throws to ice their 13th straight win.

Bobby Hunter led the Santa Fe offense with 15 points, Roody Saint-Germain and Chad Milliken pitched in 11 and Deonte Moore had nine.

The Saints continue in the Aiken Tech Classic on Saturday against hosts Aiken Tech College at 5:00 PM.  The next home game for SF in Monday, December 17 against St. Petersburg College at 5:00 PM.
