TC3 Men's Basketball Ends Semester with Win

Panthers Beat Mohawk Valley 67-58

UTICA, N.Y. – The Tompkins Cortland Community College men’s basketball team ended the fall semester on a high note, beating Mohawk Valley Community College 67-58 Saturday. The road win was TC3’s fourth straight to head into finals and winter break with an overall record of 8-3 and a Region III mark of 5-2. Mohawk Valley, The fourth-ranked team in this week’s Region III Coaches Poll, is now 7-5 overall and 6-3 in region.

It was a one-point game at the half, with TC3 holding a 30-29 advantage. The visitors extended the lead in the second half, finishing with the nine-point margin. Devin Redden (St. Mary’s H.S./Buffalo) led TC3 with 17 points while Brandon Reed (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse) had yet another double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Jaanai Beckford (Northstar Christian Academy/Yonkers) grabbed 11 rebounds, scored nine points, and handed out three assists.

TC3 will next be in action after the holidays, playing at home against Finger Lakes Community College January 8.
