Former NJCAA Football Players Making Impact in NCAA
 December 6, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – It was another successful season for former NJCAA football players continuing their collegiate careers at the NCAA FBS level. Eighteen former student-athletes were all-conference selections in 2012 including six players that received first team honors.

In the Atlantic Coast Conference, two first team all-conference selections came from NJCAA member schools. Florida State defensive end Cornellius Carradine (Butler CC, Kan.) claimed first team All-ACC accolades, ranking second in the league in sacks with 11 and compiling 80 tackles – 13 for a loss – during his senior year. Joining Carradine on the first team was North Carolina senior defensive tackle Sylvester Williams (Coffeyville CC, Kan.) who recorded 42 tackles and six sacks in 2012.

Tennessee junior wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (Hutchinson CC, Kan.) was named a first team all-purpose player and second team return specialist by the Southeastern Conference. The All-SEC selection (right) was one of the nation’s most versatile players, combining 778 yards and five touchdowns receiving with 308 yards and three touchdowns rushing. On special teams, Patterson returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns.

Three other former-student athletes received first team honors from their respective conferences. The Mountain West Conference tabbed Boise State sophomore Demarcus Lawrence (Butler CC, Kan.) as a first team all-conference defensive lineman. Louisiana Tech senior wide receiver Quinton Patton (Coffeyville CC, Kan.) and Utah State senior defensive lineman Al Lapuaho (Snow College, Utah) collected first team all-conference
recognition from the Western Athletic Conference.
