Trailblazers improve to 9-0 with 78-51 victory over Kaskaskia
 December 2, 2012

Delaney leads decisive 2nd half run to put game away

An 18-9 run over the initial eight minutes of the second half helped the Vincennes Trailblazers stretch their 14-point halftime lead to go up 55-32 near the 12:00 mark in regulation and propel VU to a 78-51 win over Kaskaskia Saturday night at the VU P.E. Complex.

Much of the production during the stretch for fourth-ranked VU (9-0) came on sophomore Deshawn Delaney’s 10-point explosion en route to a game-high 19 points. The Trailblazers also got 16 from sophomore Darius Carter and 11 points from sophomore Jeremiah Williams. Williams drained three 3-pointers and Delaney had a pair of treys.

VU made the game even more of a foregone conclusion by hitting 11-of-13 free throws in the second half. The Trailblazers were 18-of-21 overall at the line.

Up next for VU is a trip Wednesday to Mattoon, IL, to take on Lake Land. That game is set for 8:30 p.m. Vincennes time. The Trailblazers will then return home to host Sinclair at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8.
