NJCAA Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Nov. 1-11

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chris Jones (Northwest Florida State), Mark Gilchrese (Parkland College, Ill.) and Bacarius Dinkins (Mesabi Range CTC, Minn.) have been named NJCAA men’s basketball players of the week for games up to Nov. 11.



DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Chris Jones – Northwest Florida State College
Guard – Memphis, Tenn. – Melrose High School

Jones saw his success from last season carry over to the opening of his 2012-13 campaign with two outstanding performances for the Raiders. In an 80-72 win over Atlanta Metro College (Ga.), Jones posted a career-high 38 points, hitting 15-of-22 shots from the field. The sophomore came back the next day against Georgia Perimeter College and recorded a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds in a 96-93 double-overtime victory. On the week, Jones averaged 33.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 5.5 steals per game.


DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  

Mark Gilchrese – Parkland College, Ill.
Guard – Springfield, Ill. – Springfield High School

Leading the Cobras to three wins over Division I programs, Gilchrese was named MVP of last week’s Lake Land Classic. The sophomore averaged 15.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists in four games. Against Lake Land College (Ill.), Gilchrese tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards. No. 25 Highland CC (Ill.) from DI tried to slow down Gilchrese but the guard responded by passing the ball and racked up nine assists.


DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Bacarius Dinkins – Mesabi Range Community & Technical College, Minn.
Forward – Gainesville, Fla. – Newbury High School

In his first two collegiate games last week, Dinkins established himself as one of the nation’s premier forwards in Division III. In Mesabi Range’s 75-61 victory against Wisconsin-Barron County, the freshman debuted with 41 points, 11 rebounds and six steals. Dinkins came back the next day with 32 points and 15 rebounds in a 86-70 win over Rainy River CC (Minn.). For the week, Dinkins averaged 36.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and three steals per game.
