Hinds CC men's track places well in Oxford

RAYMOND – The Hinds Community College men’s track and field team competed in the Mississippi Open at Ole Miss over the weekend and finished with high marks in numerous events.

Seth Peace (Brandon) earned a second place finish in the high jump with a leap of 6’4” and Dontavious Wright (Conyers, Ga.) finished runner-up in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.86 seconds to lead the Eagles.

The 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams both posted third place finishes in their respective events.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Anthony Williams (Southaven), Jermaine Authorlee (Houston, Texas), Mateo Edward (Panama) and Jermale Mosby (Shelby) finished in 41.76 seconds to earn a third place finish.

The 4x400 meter quartet of Johnny Hulbert (Hermanville), Louis Hemphill (Vaiden), Williams and T’Quan Partlow (Vaiden) scored a third place finish with their time of 3:22.56.

Jerodrick Draper (Utica, 48.71 seconds) finished in fifth place in the 400-meter dash, followed by teammates David Carlton (Biloxi, 48.96 seconds) and Michael Newton (Atlanta, Ga., 48.98 seconds), who finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively.

In the 100-meter dash, the trio of Williams (10.73 seconds), Authorlee (10.74 seconds) and Edward (10.93 seconds) came in fifth-seventh places to give the Eagles high marks.

Robert Wells (Fayette) and Hemphill each finished in sixth place in their respective events to complete the high finishes on the afternoon for Hinds.

Wells ran the 200-meter dash in 22.15 seconds, while Hemphill finished the 400-meter hurdles in 57.91 seconds.
