TC3 Lacrosse Drops Home Game to Nation's #5-Ranked Team
 April 18, 2013

DRYDEN, N.Y. – The Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team had a surprise home game Wednesday, hosting the #5-ranked SUNY Delhi Broncos when Delhi’s field was deemed unplayable Wednesday morning. The Panthers played well but couldn’t make up for a slow start, falling by a final of 12-6. TC3 is now 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the East Division. Delhi is 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the East Division.

The game opened with Delhi controlling play early, jumping to a 4-0 lead. TC3 finally broke through seconds into the second quarter, with Stephen Park (Homer H.S./Homer) scoring to make it 4-1. After a Delhi goal, Mike Hartnett (Cortland H.S./Cortland) found the net to make it 5-2. The Broncos answered a minute later, making the score 6-2 at the half.

The second half started much like the first, with Delhi going on a run. The Broncos scored the first three goals of the quarter to lead 9-2. TC3 responded by scoring three of the next four, including three more from Park, to make it 10-5 in the first minute of the fourth quarter. The rally ended there as the Panthers couldn’t get any closer the rest of the way.

Park finished with four goals. Hartnett had two goals and an assist and Chad Timmons (Cortland H.S./Cortland) had one assist. Goalie Zach Brown (Corning East H.S./Corning) had a strong game with 14 saves.

TC3 hosts the season finale Saturday against Herkimer County Community College. Game time is 1 p.m.
