Chargers Fall on the Road
 April 17, 2013

MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN – The Ancilla College softball team were swept in a Michigan Community College Athletic Association double header by scores of 9-1 and 10-1.

In a season marred by postponements, the Chargers began a stretch of ten games in five days with two eight run rule shortened games. The host Jayhawks won the first game in six innings and the second game in five innings.

Muskegon doubled Ancilla’s hit total on the day. The Jayhawks finished with twenty hits, while Ancilla finished with only ten. The Chargers left sixteen runners on base in both games (nine in game one and seven in game two).

“Muskegon just beat us today,” started Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “We left too many runners on base and they closed the door on those opportunities. The most important thing for us is to bounce back and get prepared for the week ahead of us, not dwelling on what is in the past.”

Cortney Ferrell had three hits on the day, while Courtney Henning and Katherine Grady added two hits each.

Ancilla College enrolls 500 students in 17 degree programs ranging from accounting to nursing. It was founded by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in 1937, and is located 2 miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth.
