MARIANNA—Chipola swept Pensacola Feb. 19, in the final home games of the regular season.  Both Chipola teams finish out the regular season Feb. 23 at Gulf Coast.

The second-ranked Indians (25-3, 8-3) will finish second in the Panhandle Conference regardless of the outcome of the Feb. 23 game at Gulf Coast. Chipola will face Suncoast Champion Polk State in the state tournament on Thursday, March 7, with the time to be announced later. Panhandle Champion Northwest (25-2, 11-1) will face the Southern Conference Runner-up on March 7.

Central Florida is the Mid-Florida champion. Brevard is the Southern conference champion and Polk is the Suncoast Champion.

Chipola beat Pensacola 76-67 on Feb. 19. Earl Watson led Chipola with 15 points. Carlos Morris had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kruize Pinkins and Demetrious Floyd each had 11 points. Cinmeon Bowers pulled down 13 rebounds and scored 8 points.

Chipola scored a big 87-67 Homecoming win over Tallahassee on Feb. 9.  Carlos Morris led with 20 points. Mistor Thomas had 15. Demetrious Floyd had 13. Cinmeon Bowers had 12.

Chipola (7-3) is second in the league standings and has clinched a spot in the state tournament. Northwest (10-1) leads the Panhandle race and has clinched a spot in the state tournament. Pensacola (4-6) is third. Gulf Coast is (4-7). Tallahassee is (1-9).  

Chipola notched a big 92-69 win over Gulf Coast on Feb. 5.  Kruize Pinkins led Chipola with 19 points. He connected on 8 of 9 field goals and was 2 for 2 from the three point line. Torian Graham scored 18 including four three-pointers. Cinmeon Bowers scored 12. Mistor Thomas added 11. The Indians went up 47-31 at the half and never looked back.

The Indians scored a big 82-79 home win over Northwest on Jan. 26. Chipola mounted a late 15-2 run after falling behind 69-61. Carlos Morris led Chipola with 24 points. Demetrious Floyd scored 17. Bowers had 14. Pinkins added 11.

The second-ranked Lady Indians scored a 56-43 win over Pensacola on Feb. 19. Rayven Brooks led Chipola with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Jasmine Crawford scored 10. Lashonda Littleton had 8 points and 8 rebounds. As a team, Chipola was 8 of 10 from the free throw line.

Chipola finishes the regular season at Gulf Coast on Feb. 23 with the conference championship still up for grabs. As of Feb. 22, Northwest (9-3, 24-3) leads the conference race. Chipola (8-3, 23-4) and Gulf Coast (8-3, 23-4) are tied for second. The top three women’s team in the Panhandle Conference earn a spot in the state tournament.

 The top three teams in the Mid-Florida Conference also make the state tournament. Florida State College is the Mid-Florida Champion. Hillsborough is the runner-up, followed by Santa Fe.

St. Petersburg is the women’s Southern Conference champion. The Southern Conference runner up team is the only spot unfilled in the women’s state tournament bracket.

Chipola scored a big 71-56 win over Tallahassee for Homecoming. Rayven Brooks led Chipola with 24 points including 4 three pointers and was 6 of 6 in free throws. Kristine Brance had 22 points including five three pointers. Jasmine Crawford scored 12.

Chipola scored a 66-45 win over Gulf Coast on Feb 5. Rayven Brooks led Chipola with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Jade Givens scored 14 with 4 assists. Lashonda Littleton had 13. Treyvonna Brooks scored 4 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.

Chipola will host the Men’s and Women’s FCSAA State/Region VIII Tournament, March 6-9.
