COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jonathan Holton (Palm Beach State, Fla.), James Kelly (Owens CC, Ohio) and Tommie Starkes (Rockland CC, N.Y.) have been named NJCAA men’s basketball players of the week for games Jan. 14-20.

DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jonathan Holton – Palm Beach State College, Fla.
Forward – Miami, Fla. – Coral Gables High School

Although the No. 2 Panthers dropped their first game of the 2012-13 season last week, Holton earned his second player of the week nod this season with two more double-double efforts. The sophomore led Palm Beach State to a 78-71 win over Indian River State (Fla.) with a game-high 22 points, 15 rebounds and five steals. Against Brevard CC (Fla.), Holton again led all scorers with 25 points and added 21 rebounds – 11 on the offensive end – in a 73-66 defeat.

DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  
James Kelly – Owens Community College, Ohio
Forward – Ann Arbor, Mich. – Pioneer High School

Kelly propelled the Express to two victories last week with tremendous efforts in back-to-back games. In a 96-80 win at Cuyahoga CC (Ohio), Kelly posted a double-double with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals. The sophomore then scored a team-high 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds en route to a 73-72 victory over Cincinnati State TCC (Ohio).

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tommie Starkes – Rockland Community College, N.Y.
Guard – Bronx, N.Y. – Tidewater Academy

Playing three games last week, the Hawks gave their opponents a steady dose of Starkes who claimed his second player of the week award this season. The sophomore was 13-for-19 from the field in a 96-90 win over Bronx CC (N.Y.), totaling a game-high 36 points and 12 rebounds. Starkes tallied 30 points and 13 boards in a 79-69 win against Orange County CC (N.Y.) before recording 31 points and 13 rebounds in a 92-68 victory over Kingsborough CC (N.Y.).
