Rend Lake Warriors beat Logan by 23 at home
 January 22, 2013

INA, Ill. (Jan. 21, 2013) – The Rend Lake College Warriors commanded the court Monday night in an 87-64 win over the John A. Logan College Volunteers in Ina. RLC is now 13-2 overall and 6-2 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. Logan falls to 5-2 in the league.

Rend Lake came out from halftime with a decent lead and did not look back. Coach Randy House, who – in retrospect - second-guessed his choice to hold his players back against Olney Central last week, stayed on the attack in the second half this time as his team surged ahead by more than 20 points with less than 10 minutes to play. With less than two minutes, Rend Lake was up 20 and on cruise control.

Noel Allen led Rend Lake in scoring with 15. Dawson Verhines and Cortez Macklin had 12 each, Montez Buford pitched in 10, Stephon Bryant had eight, and Jeril Taylor had seven. Point guard Trice Whaley scored five points, Antoine Buchanon and Bronson Verhines had four, Alonzo Singletary and Dennis Froemling had three, and Montez Williams had two points.

The Volunteers were led in scoring by Aaron Adeoye with 16. Connor Wheeler had nine points while James Williams and Kaylen Shane had seven. Jay Johnson and Jamie Jones had six each, DeVaughn Johnson had four, and Michael Schmidt, Sondale Conner and Drew Bonner each had three.

The Warriors will play on the road Friday at Quincy University J.V., before hosting a league rematch with Lake Land College on Jan. 30. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
