No. 3 Lady Cavaliers down No. 1 Highland

OVERLAND PARK, KS – The No. 3 ranked Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team downed No. 1 Highland Community College, 77-62, Saturday afternoon at JCCC Gymnasium. Trailing by four at halftime, (38-34) Johnson County dominated the second half to pull out a 15-point victory, and improve to 16-1 on the season.  The victory also extended JCCC’s home court win streak to 31 straight games.  The loss was Highland’s second straight, dropping them to 16-2 overall.

Freshman guard Juanita Robinson led four JCCC players in double figures with 19 points. She was 7-of-14 from the floor, including two treys. 

Also in double figures were sophomore guard DaShawn Harden with 17, freshman point guard Timeka O’Neal with 14 and freshman forward Sameia Kendall with 11. O’Neal also had dished out seven assists.

Freshman center Kariel Hutt controlled the glass, hauling down 16 rebounds, 13 on the defensive end.  She also chipped in four points.

Tamiya Green led Highland with 15 points.
