Hawkins leads VU Women's Basketball to 80-39 rout of Shawnee

ULLIN, Ill. - Freshman forward Ashley Hawkins' double-double led the Vincennes University Women's Basketball Team to its seventh win of the season earlier tonight at Shawnee. The Trailblazers routed the host Saints 80-39 to improve to 7-10 on the season.

Hawkins had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomores Zhanna Chukhrii and Monique Jones-Murphy scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.

VU got out to an 11-2 lead early and led 37-19 at the half.

The Trailblazers will head to Mineral Area in Park Hills, MO, on Saturday. After that VU will head to Southwestern Illinois on Monday for a men's and women's doubleheader. The ladies start at 6:30 p.m. (Vincennes time) in Belleville, IL.
