TC3 Women Win Second Straight

Panthers Top Corning 60-43

DRYDEN, N.Y. – The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team evened its Mid-State Athletic Conference record at 2-2 Tuesday with a 60-43 win over Corning Community College. TC3 is now 4-10 overall while Corning drops to 3-12 overall and 1-2 in the MSAC.

            TC3 never trailed in the game, scoring the first six points on a pair of baskets by Meghan Ideman (Moravia H.S./Moravia) sandwiched around a bucket by Chelsi Rosa (Bainebridge-Guilford H.S./Bainbridge). The lead reached 10 points at 15-5 midway through the half and peaked at 20 with just over three minutes left in the half. At the break the margin stood at 13 with TC3 up 33-20.

            In the second half, Corning cut into the lead, getting it to single digits at 43-34 with 13:28 left to play. Four minutes later the score stood at what would end up being the closest score of the half, 44-36. TC3 used an 8-2 run over the next three minutes to reclaim the momentum and secure the win.

Ideman led all scorers with 21 points to go with seven rebounds and two assists. Becca Holton Tomasdottir (Cape Fear Academy (N.C.)/Reykjavik, Iceland) had 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Audrey Kate Ordway (Dryden H.S./Dryden) and Nicole Goodwin (Newfield H.S./Newfield) each had 10 rebounds and Rosa finished with a strong line of eight points and seven rebounds.

TC3 plays at Onondaga Community College Saturday.
