Northeast Football Conference Officially Adds Monroe College (N.Y.)
 December 9, 2012

The Northeast Football Conference has announced it will add Monroe (N.Y.) College to its list of members. The NEFC, which recently completed its 16th season, will now have eight members in four states. Monroe becomes the third institution to join the league in the past three years.

Monroe recently completed its first season of intercollegiate football and posted a 2-6 record.

“We are excited to have Monroe join our conference,” said John Jackson, NEFC commissioner. “It played our members this past season and was competitive, especially as a first-year program. We have seen several of our recent members achieve success quickly, not only in our conference, but also nationally.”

ASA, the league champion, is in its third year of league membership while Louisburg, which joined the league for the 2011 season, competed in the Graphic Edge Bowl. ASA played in the inaugural Carrier Dome Bowl while Nassau played in the El Toro Bowl.

ASA was ranked fifth in the NJCAA’s final poll and Nassau CC was ranked 11th. Dean College received votes.

The NEFC members are: ASA (N.Y.) College, Dean (Mass.) College, Erie (N.Y.) Community College, Hudson Valley (N.Y.) Community College; Lackawanna (Pa.) College, Louisburg (N.C.) College, Monroe (N.Y.) College and Nassau (N.Y.) Community College.
