Hinds women's soccer wraps up tremendous season
 October 23, 2012

RAYMOND – The 2012 season did not finish the way the way that the Hinds Community College women’s soccer team would have hoped, but the Lady Eagles had a tremendous season nonetheless.
Hinds fell, 5-0, to Pearl River Community College on Saturday in the semifinals of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state tournament to wrap up the season.

The Lady Eagles, who had an 11-game winning streak during the season that lasted over a month, finished 12-4 on the year and claimed the North division title yet again.

Hinds was led on the season by Breanna Green and Pam Usry, both forwards and residents of Pearl.

Green, a freshman, led the team in scoring with 24 total points on the strength of eight goals and eight assists.

Usry, a sophomore who was named to the MACJC All-State team as a freshman, was the team leader in goals scored with 10 and finished second in total points with 22 after picking up two assists.

Robin Cooper (Vicksburg), a freshman goalkeeper, was a force for the Lady Eagles in goal during her freshman campaign. She was especially tough during the team’s 11-game winning streak, recording three shutouts.
