Georgia Military Improves to 5-3
 October 20, 2012

Georgia Military College hosted the deeply talented and previously undefeated 9-0 Atlanta Sports Academy Spartans and ended the day as victors with a 24-13 win on Davenport Field. GMC never trailed in the game but the contest was close until the early fourth quarter when GMC extended its lead to 24-13, making the margin a two score deficit for the ASA Spartans. GMC took the initial lead at 7-0 on a touchdown pass from Clay Chastain to JoJo Brooks. ASA answered with two separate drives that were held up by the GMC Defense and forced into field goals. GMC extended the lead to 14-6 after a touchdown run by Akeem Judd, but ASA answered with a short drive for a touchdown following an interception by Clay Chastain in the second quarter to close the GMC lead to 14-13.

The second half proved to be a physical, back and forth contest, with both sides making short drives but coming up short. GMC drew first blood with a long drive the resulted in a field goal and a 17-13 lead. After a defensive stop, the GMC Bulldogs had a long drive that finished with a 3 yard scoring punch by Phillip Moore. The GMC Defense held once again, but a ASA punt put the Dogs in the shadow of their endzone. GMC punched the ball out and went for the 1st down on a 4th & 1 from their own 18 yd line to seal the game and bled the clock for the win.

The game also hit a milestone for GMC Head Coach Bert Williams as he notched his 100th victory at Georgia Military College in his 13th season.

GMC is open next week and will return to action November 3 in Atlanta against Chattahoochee Tech.
