COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Leticia Guimaraes (Central Wyoming College), Ashley Hulbert (Muskegon CC, Mich.) and Hannah Smith (Ridgewater College, Minn.) have been named NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week for games Sept. 19 through Sept. 25.

Player of the Week in Division I was awarded to Guimaraes. Hulbert was named Player of the Week in Division II, while Division III honors went to Smith.

DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Leticia Guimaraes, Central Wyoming College
Outside Hitter; Recife, Brazil; Marista Sao Luis High School

Guimaraes (5’ 9”) displayed her versatile game in four victories for the Rustlers. The Brazilian sophomore posted two double-doubles with 21 kills and 13 digs against Great Falls JV and 20 kills and 12 digs in a three-set sweep of Rocky Mountain JV. Guimaraes displayed her accuracy with a .512 hitting percentage for the week. Defensively, Guimaraes totaled nine blocks and 38 digs in the four matches. In-state matches await Guimaraes this week as the Rustlers travel to Casper College (Wyo.) and No. 4 Western Wyoming College.  

DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  
Ashley Hulbert, Muskegon Community College, Mich.
Outside Hitter; Fruitport, Mich.; Fruitport High School

Hulbert (5’ 10”) racked up double-doubles in both of Muskegon’s wins last week. In a sweeping victory over Ancilla College (Ind.), the sophomore tallied 20 kills and 10 digs. Hulbert recorded 23 kills and 11 digs in a five-set win over No. 5 Grand Rapids CC (Mich.). It will be a busy week for Hulbert and the No. 13 Jayhawks with two matches during the week and four more this weekend at the Grand Rapids CC Tournament.

 

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hannah Smith, Ridgewater College, Minn.
Outside Hitter; Willmar, Minn.; Willmar High School

Smith (5’ 8”) led the No. 1 Warriors to five wins last week including four sweeps. The sophomore registered three double-doubles including a 21 kill, 14 dig performance in a five-set win over Minnesota West CTC. In her best all-around match of the week, Smith tabbed 13 kills, 14 digs, three blocks and two aces in a sweep of UM-Morris JV. Smith and the top-ranked Warriors have two matches this week hosting St. Cloud TCC (Minn.) and travelling to Minnesota State CTC.
