 March 26, 2014

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College head coach Kent Shelley added another milestone to his Hall of Fame career last week when he notched his 800th career victory as the Cavaliers skipper. Shelley’s milestone win was a 7-5 triumph over cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas, March 15.

Shelley is in his 27th season at JCCC, and ranks as the program’s all-time wins leader. Since that victory, JCCC has added three more victories, bringing their season mark to 23-5 overall and his career record to 803-510-1.

The team also learned this week they moved in top 10 in the NJCAA Division I Coaches Poll, earning the No. 9 spot. It is the program’s highest ranking since appearing as the No. 9 team in the April 8, 2009 poll.

The Cavaliers recently split a four-game series with No. 6 ranked Neosho County, and have a big four-game series with perennial conference power Cowley March 27 at JCCC, and March 29 at Cowley.
