Two Panthers Break Scoring Record in Win
DRYDEN, N.Y. – Two Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse players put their names in the record books Saturday as the Panthers rolled to a 21-11 win over Northampton Community College( (Penn.). The win improves TC3 to 2-3 on the year while Northampton falls to 0-2.
The win was historic for two Panthers. Prior to Saturday, the TC3 single-game goal scoring record was seven goals, set by Brandon Macera in 2008. The mark had been tied twice, but never surpassed. That is, until Saturday, when two different Panthers turned the trick.
Nick Velazquez (Middletown H.S./Middletown) is the new record holder after scoring 10 goals. Second place on the TC3 record list now belongs to Max Bosworth (Keene H.S./Keene, N.H.) after he found the net eight times. The two powered the offense that also put the team in the record books: the 21-goal total marks the second most prolific scoring game in TC3 lacrosse history (23 vs. Dean College in 2008).
TC3 plays at Finger Lakes Community College Wednesday.
