COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Tamara Taylor (Gulf Coast State, Fla.), Heidi Highstreet (St. Clair County CC, Mich.) and Tiffany Gehl (Minnesota West CTC) have been named NJCAA women’s basketball players of the week for games Feb. 18-24.

DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tamara Taylor – Gulf Coast State College, Fla.
Guard – St. Petersburg, Fla. – Boca Ceiga High School

Taylor’s performance last week led the Commodores to an upset of No. 8 Chipola College (Fla.) and a share of the Panhandle Conference championship. The sophomore posted a double-double in the 92-59 victory, scoring 36 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Taylor also dished out five assists and added four steals to the effort. Averaging 21.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game this season, Taylor leads the No. 8 Commodores in both categories.

DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  
Heidi Highstreet – St. Clair County Community College, Mich.
Forward – Algonac, Mich. – Algonac High School

In two games last week, Highstreet elevated the Skippers over their two opponents. In a 97-60 rout of Schoolcraft College (Mich.), Highstreet recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Defensively, the sophomore totaled four steals and four blocks in the victory. Highstreet finished the week with another double-double, totaling 34 points and 18 rebounds in a 94-68 win over Henry Ford CC (Mich.). On the glass, the No. 6 Skippers are led by Highstreet’s 8.3 rebounds per game in 2012-13.

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tiffany Gehl – Minnesota West Community & Technical College
Forward – Fulda, Minn. – Fulda High School

Gehl utilized her deadly shooting abilities to spur the Bluejays on to two victories last week. The freshman hit 13-of-24 shots from the field against Rochester CTC (Minn.), scoring 33 points in the 93-81 win. In an 86-60 win over Riverland CC (Minn.), Gehl hit 3-of-5 shots from beyond the arc and totaled 38 points to go along with eight rebounds. Gehl leads the No. 10 Bluejays in scoring this season, averaging 20.7 points per game.
