COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sarah Hunter (Central Florida), Kendra Brunswick (Edison CC, Ohio) and Kerry Player (Atlantic Cape CC, N.J.) have been named NJCAA women’s basketball players of the week for games Jan. 28 – Feb. 3.

DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sarah Hunter – College of Central Florida
Guard – Cincinnati, Ohio – William Mason High School

Last week, the Patriots ended a 13-game losing streak and won back-to-back games for the first time this season behind the leadership of Hunter. Defeating Santa Fe College (Fla.) 75-63, Central Florida received 30 points, six rebounds and four assists from Hunter. The sophomore then put up 23 points, five assists and four steals in a 77-62 victory over Daytona State (Fla.). Hunter currently leads the Patriots this season with 12.6 points, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  
Kendra Brunswick – Edison Community College, Ohio
Forward – Fort Recovery, Ohio – Fort Recovery High School

The Chargers went 2-0 last week with Brunswick spearheading the Edison attack. In a 76-68 win over Owens CC (Ohio), the sophomore scored a game-high 23 points while adding 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals to the effort. Brunswick followed up with a game-high 35 points on 15-of-19 shooting from the field to go along with nine rebounds, five assists and seven steals in a 95-35 rout of Lakeland CC (Ohio). Edison has benefited from Brunswick’s play on both ends of the court in 2012-13 as she leads the team with 18.9 points and 2.4 steals per game.

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kerry Player – Atlantic Cape Community College, N.J.
Center – Woodbine, N.J. – Cape May County Technical High School

Despite dropping both of their games last week, the Buccaneers saw Player excel on both ends of the floor. In a 54-48 loss to Middlesex CC (N.J.), Player scored 20 points to go along with eight rebounds and four blocks. The six-foot sophomore then recorded a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds against Ocean CC (N.J.). Player knocked down 11-of-16 free throw attempts and registered five blocks in the narrow 61-57 defeat. Averaging 13.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game this season, Player leads the Buccaneers in each of those categories.
