NJCAA Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Nov. 12-18
November 21, 2012COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Domonique Harris (Northwest Mississippi CC), Bryan Yarce (CC of Rhode Island) and Andrew Maxie (Eastfield College, Texas) have been named NJCAA men’s basketball players of the week for games Nov. 12-18.
Providing the Rangers with much more than a spark off the bench, Harris utilized his sixth-man role to showcase his talents last week. Harris averaged a double-double in three games with 20.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. The sophomore displayed deadly accuracy from the field, knocking down 55.6 percent of his field goal attempts. In a 97-85 victory over Copiah-Lincoln CC (Miss.), Harris enjoyed his best performance of the week with 33 points and 20 rebounds.
Despite going 1-1 at the Monroe Invitational, the Knights benefitted from Yarce’s versatile play last week. In a 78-57 loss to Division I opponent Monroe College (N.Y.), Yarce posted 11 points, four assists and two steals. The next day, Yarce brought CCRI back from a 22-point deficit to defeat Cuyahoga CC (Ohio), 73-66. Yarce led the comeback with seven assists, seven steals and 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field.
In their lone game last week, the Harvesters and Maxie came up just short of knocking off Division I opponent Kilgore College (Texas). Maxie knocked down 8-of-17 shots from the field – including two 3-pointers – and added eight free throws for 26 points. The freshman also recorded six rebounds and two assists in the 77-72 loss.
