COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Clay Chastain (Georgia Military), Gordie Pine (Hudson Valley CC, N.Y.) and Cherchen Aloema (ASA College, N.Y.) have been named NJCAA Football Players of the Week for Week 12.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Clay Chastain – Georgia Military College
Quarterback – Powder Springs, Ga. – Harrison High School

Closing out the regular season in style, Chastain lit up the scoreboard in the Bulldogs’ 43-25 win over Lackawanna. Completing 21-of-31 passes, the freshman threw for 342 yards and five touchdowns in the Georgia Military victory. Chastain set new career marks in completion percentage, passing yards and passing touchdowns. The No. 20 Bulldogs and their signal-caller finished the regular season with a 7-3 record and will face No. 5 Navarro in the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK  
Gordie Pine – Hudson Valley Community College, N.Y.
Linebacker – Gardiner, N.Y. – New Paltz High School

Despite falling 30-24 to Alfred State, the Vikings were able to keep the contest close thanks to two tremendous plays by Pine. Trailing 22-8 midway through the third quarter, Hudson Valley got back in the game with Pine’s 41-yard fumble return for a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, the sophomore returned another fumble for a touchdown from 48 yards out. Pine added six tackles – three solo – to the effort. The Vikings and Pine have completed their season.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cherchen Aloema – ASA College, N.Y.
Kicker – Miami, Fla. – Miami Norland High School

With six seconds remaining in a top five showdown for the NFC championship, Aloema kicked the game-winning field goal with six seconds left to upset No. 3 Nassau, 30-29. Despite missing one of his four extra-point attempts, the sophomore came through in the clutch for the Avengers. No. 3 ASA and Aloema now take their 9-0 record to the Carrier Dome Bowl where they will take on No. 4 Snow.
