NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week - Oct. 8-14

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Lauren Bevan (Yavapai College, Ariz.), Jessica McDougald (Cowley College, Kan.) and Tiffani Karbo (Ridgewater College, Minn.) have been named NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week for matches Oct. 8-14.



DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lauren Bevan – Yavapai College, Ariz.
Outside Hitter – Ventura, Calif. – Buena High School

Bevan led the Roughriders to five-consecutive victories last week, recording doulgle-figure kills in four of the matches. In 16 sets, the sophomore averaged 3.81 kills and 2.1 digs. In a four-set win over Gulf Coast SC (Fla.), Bevan tabbed a double-double with 18 kills and 15 digs. This week, Bevan and the Roughriders will take on Scottsdale CC (Ariz.) and Eastern Arizona College.
 


DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jessica McDougald – Cowley College, Kan.
Outside Hitter – Augusta, Kan. – Rose Hill High School

The top-ranked team in the land continued to cruise through the regular season last week behind the offensive effort of McDougald. Boasting a .377 hitting percentage, the freshman averaged 3.81 kills in 16 sets. McDougald’s best effort in the five matches came in a three-set sweep of No. 15 Central CC-Columbus (Neb.), where she recorded 15 kills with no hitting errors. Back in action Wednesday, McDougald and the Tigers host Kansas City Kansas CC in the first of three matches this week.
 


DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tiffani Karbo – Ridgewater College, Minn.
Setter – Balaton, Minn. – Tracy-Milroy-Balaton High School

Earning player of the week honors for the second time this season, Karbo directed the top-ranked Warriors to back-to-back four-set victories. The freshman averaged 11.4 assists per set last week, recording 47 on Anoka-Ramsey CC (Minn.) and 44 against No. 9 Rochester CTC (Minn.). On the week, Karbo also averaged 1.75 digs per set and compiled a .375 hitting percentage. Closing out the regular season this week, Karbo and the Warriors host Minnesota West CTC Wednesday.
