COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Ana Jakovljevic (Northwest College, Wyo.), Kelly Hevelhurst (Jackson CC, Mich.) and Megan Houff (Fashion IT, N.Y.) have been named NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week for matches Oct. 1-7.
 

DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ana Jakovljevic – Northwest College, Wyo.
Outside Hitter – Valjevo, Serbia

Three spectacular offensive performances from Jakovljevic spurred the Trappers on to a 3-0 record last week. Earning Player of the Week for the second time in 2012, Jakovljevic scored at least 20 kills in all three matches, averaging 7.36 kills per set. The freshman utilized the 3.09 digs per set that she averaged to tab two double-doubles for the week. Wednesday, Jakovljevic and the Trappers head to No. 13 Central Wyoming College before hosting No. 15 Western Wyoming CC Saturday.
 

DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kelly Hevelhurst – Jackson Community College, Mich.
Outside Hitter – Jenison, Mich. – Jenison High School

Three double-double performances for Hevelhurst led Jackson to six-consecutive wins last week. Hevelhurst posted at least 24 kills twice and averaged 4.23 kills per set for the week. The sophomore showcased her talent from the serve with five aces against Pitt CC (N.C.) and seven against Genesee CC (N.Y.). Back in action next week, Hevelhurst and the Jets play at No. 3 Grand Rapids CC (Mich.) Tuesday.

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Megan Houff – Fashion Institute of Technology, N.Y.
Middle Blocker – Longmeadow, Mass. – Longmeadow High School

The Tigers cruised past the opposition last week behind Houff’s devastating offensive attack. Sweeping all three of their opponents, the Tigers saw Houff record double-figure kill totals in each match and average 5.20 kills per set. The freshman was dominant on the defensive end, averaging 2.33 digs and 1.33 blocks per set. Houff and the Tigers travel to Orange County CC (N.Y.) Saturday for double-header action.
