NJCAA Sports Information Director of the Year

The NJCAA Sports Information Director of the Year is awarded to a sports information director who best exemplifies the overall purpose of promoting and leading their institution, athletic department, and student-athletes through sports information. 

Created in the spring of 2020, the NJCAA Sports Information Director of the Year is part of the NJCAA Annual Awards that honor three distinct categories across the association - Athletic Director of the Year, Sports Information Director of the Year, and Athletic Trainer of the Year. Tara Dreyer | Blinn College (TX) | Sports Information Specialist

In her fourth year as Sports Information Specialist at Blinn, Dreyer is responsible for providing extensive coverage of the Buccaneers' 12 athletic programs on the department's website and social media channels.  In addition to this coverage, Dreyer serves as the primary photographer for each of Blinn's athletic programs while coordinating closely with a videographer at home events and a graphic designer to maintain the Buccaneers' brand.  

Dreyer places a priority on getting to know all of Blinn's student-athletes while working extensively to promote their achievements to assist in their recruiting process to transfer to a four-year institution. 

In addition to her work on campus in Brenham, Dreyer serves as a member of the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball poll committee as a representative of the Mid-South District.  

Prior to working at Blinn, Dreyer was the Blinn College beat writer for the Brenham-Banner Press where she covered Blinn College news and athletics.  Dreyer grew up a Blinn Buccaneer fan as the granddaughter of Leroy Dreyer, former Blinn College athletic director and longtime baseball coach. 

Dreyer exemplifies dedication to telling the story of NJCAA student-athletes on a daily basis.
