Iowa Central Tritons Race to Erase Breast Cancer

FORT DODGE - The nationally ranked Iowa Central men's and women's cross country teams will begin their third annual Race to Erase Breast Cancer fundraiser this month as 100% of the proceeds going directly to Trinity Regional Hospital Cancer Center.

New to this year's fundraiser will be Fall Fest held on Tuesday, October 13, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Willow Ridge Golf Course. Fall Fest will include finger foods, games, face painting, door prizes, a pumpkin carving raffle, and a juggling flame thrower.

Tickets for Fall Fest are $6 for children eight and under and $10 for adults and can be purchased from Iowa Central head cross country coach Dee Brown, Willow Ridge's Chef Michael as well as any Iowa Central cross country athlete or culinary arts student. This will be a family friendly event sure to entertain all ages.

Also as part of the Race to Erase, the Iowa Central cross country team will be selling t-shirts, collecting donations and selling raffle tickets for prizes and coupons for local businesses. The fundraiser will help to raise proceeds for Trinity Regional Hospital Cancer Center as well as help spread information about breast cancer as October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In the first year of the Race to Erase Breast Cancer, the cross country team raised $500. Last year that amount grew to $2,000. Coach Brown said they hope the trend continues to this year as they hope to raise even more money for Trinity Regional Hospital Cancer Center.
