Ancilla Softball Serves the Community

WALKERTON, IN – No doubt this winter has taken a toll on northern Indiana, so in times like this, it is necessary to help out whenever possible, which is what the Ancilla College softball did last week.

As the rain pelted down and the snow began to melt, flood waters threatened the town of Walkerton. The Lady Chargers came to the rescue, as they took a day off from conditioning and practice, in order to lend a hand. The softball team was hard at work, filling sandbags and shoveling snow away from fire hydrants.

Ancilla coach Scott Reese commented, “This was a great experience for our team. Not only are we helping others, but this improves self-respect for the players. I am proud of them for their eagerness and willingness to help.”

“It was a rewarding experience to help the people of this town. I didn’t want or need recognition, it just felt like the right thing to do,” stated Lady Charger Hanna Moore.

Ancilla College, part of The Center at Donaldson, offers 18 Associate’s Degree and eight athletic programs. Since 1937, the College has been a sponsored ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and is located two miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth, Indiana.
